Modernising for Efficiency and Certification
As a precision engineering company, Silcoms faced a significant challenge with rising utility costs. While the company recognized the need for a more energy-efficient lighting system, the high upfront costs of a traditional LED upgrade were a major barrier.
“We first started looking into an LED lighting upgrade because of the utilities costs…A lot of the examples (of LED providers) we could find were upfront cost which were quite excessive really.”
Beyond cost, Silcoms was driven by a commitment to sustainability, specifically its pursuit of ISO 14001 environmental certification and the Net Zero goals of its aerospace customers. An additional complication was the age of the building—a Victorian-era structure with outdated fixed wiring that required extensive rectification work. Silcoms needed a partner who could address both their financial and infrastructural challenges while helping them achieve their environmental targets.
