Overcoming an Underlit Environment

As a prominent high-pressure die-casting company, Ryobi Aluminium Castings UK faced a significant challenge common in heavy industrial settings: outdated and insufficient lighting. The existing fluorescent tubing was not only energy-intensive but also provided low illumination. 

"For my role coming into a low-carbon project engineer, we saw it as an opportunity to move away from the fluorescent tubing lighting to LED lighting, which would benefit us from the energy savings.”

Furthermore, as a global company with continuous 24/7 manufacturing operations, Ryobi could not afford any downtime. This meant any lighting upgrade had to be implemented seamlessly during operational hours. The Solution

A Phased and Expertly Executed Upgrade

LumenStream was recommended to Ryobi by another die-casting company, a testament to our reputation in the industry. Recognising the facility's unique needs, our team planned and executed the project in two distinct phases. We meticulously designed a plan to safely isolate and replace the luminaires during regular operational hours, ensuring zero downtime for the customer.

The old, inefficient fluorescent tubing was replaced with high-quality, modern LED light fittings. The new lighting design significantly increased lux levels to over 500 lux, meeting and exceeding UK manufacturing standards. This significant leap in illumination had an immediate and profound impact on the work environment.
