Silcoms is a precision engineering company that makes complex components for the aerospace industry and chain equipment for the food industry. They wanted to tackle two of the biggest problems facing UK manufacturers today – rising costs and reducing carbon emissions. Upgrading the lighting in their beautiful 100-year-old+ former Victorian cotton mill, seemed like the best place to start. Big rewards, relatively low effort. But, ‘excessive’ upfront costs to buy and install energy-efficient lighting was extremely offputting and not feasible. Then Rob Tattersall found out about LumenStream’s unique ‘Lighting as a Service’ model: A full turn-key service offering procurement, installation, and project management of energy-efficient lighting for no upfront cost, instead paid for monthly out of the savings generated.
